Muan Nakazato’s Perennial Legacy
Muan Nakazato, a master of Karatsu ware, not only inherited the family legacy but enriched it. Adopting the name of the 12th generation Tarouemon in 1927, he embarked on a journey to revive the forgotten beauty of ancient Karatsu ware. His life was a canvas where past and present merged through art, and in 1976, his dedication was recognized by being named a Living National Treasure. In his retirement, he adopted the Buddhist name Muan, a symbol of his artistic and spiritual evolution.
