derives from the Greek word &#8220;\u1f00\u03c1\u03cd\u03b2\u03b1\u03bb\u03bb\u03bf\u03c2&#8221; (aryballos), which referred to a specific type of small spherical or globular vessel with a narrow neck, used mainly to contain perfumes or oil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This particular design evolved from the first <a href=\"https:\/\/ceramicartis.com\/en\/greek-pitcher\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"6102\"><strong>pitcher <\/strong><\/a>of wine in the geometric style of the ninth century BC, developing its distinctive form in the early proto-Corinthian style of the eighth century BC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ar\u00edbalo form also emerged in different cultures in other continents, including the Inca, where they adopted a particularly significant form and function.
